Q. What courses do you support?
A. You can browse our course database at our partner website, Oob Golf. At this time most of our courses are in the US, but the international database is growing every day. It's a community managed database so you can enter data for your favorite courses easily through the web interface and then download them to your iPhone.
Q. Does Fore! use GPS to act as a range finder?
A. Fore! uses the GPS only to locate the golf courses nearby for easy selection. Unfortunately the iPhone's GPS is not accurate enough to act as a range finder. We have the course data necessary to make it work but when we implemented the feature we found that the iPhone was off up to 30 feet. That's 2 club lengths for most people. We felt it would be misleading to include such a feature so we removed it.
Q. The data for my course is incomplete or inaccurate. Can this be fixed?
A. The database at Oob Golf is community managed. If you find your course information to be incomplete you can update the database there yourself. Once the data changes are approved by the administrators you will immediately be able to access the updated data from Fore!.
Q. Why does Fore! complain about missing yardage data when Oob Golf has the data?
A. We found that our validation of course data was too strict. Course data that was missing Hole Hadicaps or Yardage or Par data were not being accepted by Fore!. The upcoming 2.1 update will allow these courses that only have partial data entered in Oob to still be used with Fore!. In the meantime you can edit the course info on the Oob website to make sure it has Yardage, Par, Distance, and Handicap for all holes.
Q. How can I see my statistics online?
A. After uploading your scores, log in to your Oob Golf account.
Q. My iPod Touch is unable to upload scores while on the golf course.
A. If you are using an iPod Touch you must be connected to a wireless
access point. Most golf courses do not have open wireless access so
you may have to wait until you get home to submit.
Q. Does Fore! work on my 1st Generation / 3G iPhone?
A. Fore! works with all iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
Q. Is there a trial version?
A. Not at this time. We're looking in to creating one, but it takes a considerable amount of resources and time.
Q. My fairway stats did not upload correctly.
A. This is now fixed. No application update required. For rounds already submitted you can manually enter the fairway hits on the Oob Golf website.
Q. My round was uploaded as a "Practice" round on Oob.
A. This is now fixed. No application update required. For rounds already submitted you can manually change the round from "Practice" to "Standard" on the Oob Golf website.
